With natural wood forming the backbone of the concept around which the renovation of this 80 sq.m. apartment was shaped, we decided to create a contemporary design language through which industrial elements would effortlessly blend with subtle minimal lines, and give to the space an industrial chic makeover with a thumping punch of elegance.
The apartment's capacity to find transcendence in the concepts of clarity and uncomplicated simplicity, lives room for the attention to be brought down to the floor level, making the floorboards the prime object of attraction. The natural brushed oak and its strong organic details work as a unifying design device, producing unexpected surprising effects throughout the apartment. The individually customized floorboards, which are extended on to the doors, appear as if they are climbing up the walls. As for the custom-built, multifunctional dressing room, banks of cunning storage spaces open unexpectedly, with a delightful practicality, essential to the preservation of the minimalist mirage.
Large windows, overlooking the communal garden of the property, have been installed to address the issue of shortage of natural light and develop a sense of brightness and openness. Particular emphasis has been placed on insulation so as to eliminate moisture movement caused by the communal garden, thus preventing significant damage.
